My Background

Chris Corrao, founder and owner of Chris Corrao: Stories & Portraits, grew up in the Lancaster area. He attended Millersville University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degree, studying photography, printmaking, sculpture, and graphic design while earning his degree.

Coming from a creative family, and having his creativity encouraged throughout childhood (through gifts and strong art programs in elementary and high school), Chris always knew he wanted to be a professional creative—nothing else would have made him happy. His first public exhibit and art award came in 2005. Since then, Chris has been an active photographer and artist in Lancaster, PA and the surrounding region, with 80+ public exhibits, public artworks, artworks in national and international private collections, and several professional awards.

Chris’ passion for photography is due in part from his late grandfather, who gifted Chris his old 35mm Minolta SR-T 201 film camera with all the lenses and accessories. In Chris’ eyes, photography is an invaluable way to tell a story, to showcase and appreciate something that is often overlooked, to create memories for family and friends, and to capture life’s most important moments. In addition to photography, Chris is an award-winning graphic designer and abstract artist.

Chris, his wife Carrie, and his daughter Lillian, along with three cats (Lady, Frank, and Oliver), live a few miles west of downtown Lancaster. Chris has been vegan since 2017 and cares very deeply for animal rights—he even offers charitable photography services for rescue animal sanctuaries. Chris hopes to continue to meet and work with awesome people, animals, and brands; grow his craft; and capture life’s special moments for others.
