LTS Alumni Day 2023

Alumni Day 2023
Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster, PA

More than 120 Lancaster Theological Seminary alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the graduating class joined together on campus and for the 2023 Alumni Day gathering. The day kicked off with coffee and conversations before a morning worship. A passionate sermon on unity (the common theme for the day) was delivered by Rev. Naomi Washington-Leapheart, Class of 2016 in the Santee Chapel.

The morning service was followed by a friendly lunch. The luncheon program including a welcome speech from a former student, a State of the Seminary address by the Rev. Dr. Heather Vacek, awards and more. Rev. Dr. Martha Boyer, Class of 2000, and the Rev. J. Kenneth Trauger, Class of 1962 were celebrated as the Meck and Moss Award recipients.

The day ended with a panel discussion exploring the ways in which union does not require uniformity or the minimization of distinctive identities. Differences can be complementary rather than oppositional. The discussion considered the mutually enriching complementarities of Lancaster Theological Seminary and Moravian Theological Seminary as the two institutions move into a common future, strengthened by the unique gifts that each institution can offer each other. Panelists included: Dr. Lee Barrett, Mary B. and Henry P. Stager Professor of Theology, Lancaster Theological Seminary and Rev. Dr. C. Riddick Weber, Director, Master of Arts in Theological Studies, Moravian Theological Seminary.
