Magic: An Attollo Experience

I had the privilege of photographing Magic: An Attollo Experience on May 13, 2019. What a fun night and amazing experience for the students in the Attollo program! It was exciting to see so many members of the community come to together to support these kids as they enter into the next phase of their lives and to raise funds for the Attollo prep program. This gala was a celebration of Attollo’s Senior Scholars who have been accepted to colleges all across the country.

Quoted from their website: Attollo, or “rise up” in Latin, is a mentorship program serving more than 340 students in eight school districts—plus Lancaster Catholic High School, Lancaster Mennonite and Lancaster Country Day schools — in and around Lancaster County. Attollo was founded in 2004 by former University of Maryland quarterback Jordan Steffy and the Children Deserve a Chance Foundation.

Legendary basketball player, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Magic Johnson, was the keynote speaker for the gala. Magic presented The Magic of Caring. He brought all the scholars up to replace him on stage while he spoke to them from the ballroom floor. He addressed several personally throughout his presentation, and each interaction ended with a seflie or chest bump! There’s no doubt that his presentation and presence was immensely powerful and meaningful for the kids.
