I recently traveled to Asheville, North Carolina with my wife to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It was a first solo trip since becoming parents. It was hard to leave our daughter, but we had a great trip. And, our daughter enjoyed a “staycation” with her grandparents where she was spoiled to absolute delight!
While in the area, we took some time to drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway and stop at the Craggy Gardens. From there we took the Craggy Pinnacle Trail to a gorgeous look out spot. The trail was relatively short and easy, which was perfect for us as inexperienced hikers.
Upon arriving at the trail, huge clouds rolled in. We avoided rainfall, but the hike to the top was made a little more challenging by moisture and lower visibility. When we got to the top, we couldn’t see out more than a foot ahead of us! Thankfully, after a few minutes the clouds rolled out and we were treated to the stunning views. And, because of the weather, we had the pinnacle to ourselves.
We took some time to enjoy the peaceful quiet and take some moments for contemplation. I almost didn’t bring my camera along on the trip. I thought about disconnecting from it while we were away, but I knew I might see something that would make me regret not having it. Luckily, I was able to channel my inner Ansel Adams and capture these moody black and whites.
