Lancaster Marriott, Lancaster, PA
Anniversaries deserve to be celebrated, and for Aksa and Yashey, that celebration took the form of a stylish portrait session inspired by vintage fashion photography and old Hollywood glamour.
Rather than choosing a scenic outdoor location, we leaned into the timeless architecture and sophisticated atmosphere of the Lancaster Marriott. The hotel’s elegant interiors provided the perfect backdrop for the dramatic, editorial look they envisioned. Every hallway, doorway, and corner became an opportunity to create portraits that felt cinematic and effortlessly fashionable.
From the very beginning, Aksa and Yashey wanted their session to feel different from traditional anniversary photos. Their inspiration centered around a vintage glam aesthetic—bold, confident, and full of personality. Instead of soft, airy images, we embraced a moodier, more striking visual style that feels reminiscent of fashion magazines and classic film photography.
To bring that vision to life, I relied heavily on direct flash throughout the session. This lighting technique creates crisp shadows, bright highlights, and a distinctive editorial feel that has become increasingly popular in contemporary fashion photography while still echoing the look of photographs from decades past. During post-processing, I enhanced the images with deeper contrast and carefully added grain to give the photographs texture and a timeless quality without sacrificing modern clarity.
What made this session especially memorable wasn’t just the creative styling—it was the connection between Aksa and Yashey. Whether sharing a quiet glance, laughing together, or confidently posing for the camera, they brought genuine warmth and chemistry to every photograph. Those authentic moments balanced the bold visual style, resulting in images that feel both artistic and deeply personal.
One of my favorite parts of creating sessions like this is collaborating with couples who aren’t afraid to step outside the traditional portrait experience. By combining thoughtful wardrobe choices, a beautiful location, intentional lighting, and distinctive editing, we were able to create a gallery that feels less like a standard anniversary session and more like a collection of timeless editorial portraits.
Happy anniversary, Aksa and Yashey! Thank you for trusting me to help bring your vision to life. It was a joy creating these images together, and I hope they serve as lasting reminders of this chapter in your story for many years to come.
