VeloCity 2019: Celebrating A City Moving Forward
Tellus360, Lancaster, PA

VeloCity is an annual event in Downtown Lancaster, PA. It showcases the very best that the city has to offer. Lancaster’s art, culture, food, drinks, and fashion come together in one night to celebrate this exciting city. The best part is that proceeds benefit Lancaster City Alliance and the Downtown Investment District.

VeloCity is a truly amazing event! It was such a pleasure and honor to be a part of the celebration doing what I love—capturing it through my camera!

You may be wondering about the photo of the bicycle above. Well, a bicycle has been used in the VeloCity logo since its inception five years ago. It is a symbol of progress and forward momentum. This particular bike photographed was also auctioned off at the end of the night to raise more funds for the Lancaster City Alliance and the Downtown Investment District.

Take a look at the whole event below!

The night began with a Cocktail Competition featuring Lancaster’s favorite local bartenders. The winner was Jimmy Vega of 551 West with his cocktail “Wake up Lancaster!”—his second consecutive year claiming the title! The winning cocktail was named, by proclamation of Danene Sorace, Mayor of Lancaster as the “Official Cocktail of the City of Lancaster” for one year!

Competitors included:

There was nonstop celebration, and, as a special treat, Circus School of Lancaster was in the house with roaming performers!

The night included two live painters—award-winning and internationally recognized mixed media artist Loryn Spangler-Jones and emerging artist and Lancaster native Keisha Finnie. Guests had the opportunity to take home the beautiful artwork during the auction at the conclusion of the night. Proceeds from the auction benefited the Lancaster City Alliance and the Downtown Investment District.

Nearly York and Downtown Sound provided the evening’s musical entertainment.

No event is complete without food—and there was no shortage of bites to try. A personal favorite were the plantain wings by Upohar!

Food was provided by:

The whole evening leads up to the VeloCity fashion show featuring Lancaster’s boutiques. WGAL’s Meredith Jorgensen and Lancaster Recreation Commission’s AJ Eckman emceed as models took to the runway wearing clothes from Lancaster’s fabulous stores.

Featured in the fashion show was:
